The country is bordered to the north by Mexico, to the west by Guatemala, and to the east and south-east by the Caribbean.


With 8,867 square miles of territory and 320,000 people (2008 est.), the population density is the lowest in the Central American region and one of the lowest in the world. The country's population growth rate is 2.21%(2008est.), is the highest in the region and one the highest in the western hemisphere.

Culturally, Belize considers itself to be both Caribbean and Central American.
